On a future Earth teetering on the brink of ecological collapse, a young woman encounters a powerful alien soldier with the power to rebuild or destroy the world.

Rom-Ghenshar is the alien race that has come to take over planet Earth. Stronger, invincible, immortal, and with a technical superiority beyond comprehension, the aliens are fueled by a zest for revenge while plundering Earth’s remaining resources.

However, an unexpected deviation from their plans occurs when a ruthless alien soldier, ‘Rothwen’, becomes infatuated with a human, ‘Erin’, a bright young student with a mysterious past. He takes her to his world even though it will jeopardise the plan to occupy Earth.

Erin finds herself in an alien world, kidnapped by Rothwen. He and his people have different clothes, a different language, and a different life. Everything about him is strange to Erin, yet he claims she is one of them and that soon, she will be just like them. Erin wants to flee in terror, but Rothwen’s telepathic powers hold her fast. Their two worlds are destined to collide, but one wrong step could mean the end of everything Erin holds dear.

Erin soon discovers the aliens’ immense destructive powers, and while Rothwen promises her that they have come peacefully, Erin suspects that not all is as it seems.

Rothwen and Erin are undeniably drawn to each other, with a wild romantic chemistry they cannot control, despite having key character traits that should work against each other. Rothwen has a domineering presence and is used to always getting what he wants. However, he finds himself immensely attracted to Erin’s passionate yet strong-willed and defiant personality — all the aspects that make her human.

In Rothwen’s company, Erin meets other members of his race and eventually forms a close bond with them. She is given the new name of ‘Shaillah’, and as she accepts her unique ancestry, she finally understands why she has always felt different to those around her. She is wooed on two sides—by the all-powerful yet pleasing Rothwen and by the attraction to her unique heritage, as she journeys to the Rom-Ghenshar home world, her body transforming to unleash her full powers. She becomes one of them, even admired by the fearsome supreme commander, ‘Kuzhma-Or’. Still, she cares deeply for the humans and their plight.

Shaillah’s future and that of planet Earth depend on her subsequent actions. She often wonders where her loyalty lies. Even though she has been transformed into the alien race, her feelings and memories are still human, “and that’s what makes you unique,” Rothwen tells her.

Shaillah’s competing desires to be with Rothwen and to protect the planet she has called home all these years have a profound effect on her. Other things complicate her life, such as her loyalty to her best friend, ‘Sam,’ and the uncertainty about her intoxicating lover’s intentions.

Once Rothwen unleashes a devastating attack on planet Earth, Shaillah struggles to help the humans. As the battle lines blur, Shaillah is caught in an agonising vortex of choices. Her heart torn between the unwavering devotion of her childhood friend and the enigmatic allure of Rothwen, she stands at the epicentre of a catastrophe. Each decision she makes ripples across the galaxy, affecting the fate of her planet, her people, and the alien race, threatening to consume everything she holds dear.

Against the all-powerful Rothwen, her efforts seem doomed to failure, but eventually, she reaches out to the soldier’s bleak soul and does the unthinkable to try to change him. In a profound battle of hearts and minds, she confronts Rothwen, telling him that she will abandon everything and return to her true home, her beloved planet Earth. Unflinchingly, she boards an alien craft and jets off, leaving him to witness her swift and unyielding exit.

Rothwen cannot bear the thought of losing Shaillah forever. For him, it is now or never. At that very moment, Rothwen decides he will fight for what he wants, no matter what it takes. He must defy his supreme commander, high counsellor, and the galaxy takeover plans of his ancestors. He must do anything to keep Shaillah by his side, even if it means betraying his own kind and risking everything he has ever known.

As the Rom-Ghenshars prepare to depart for their next mission, all is ready to destroy every living thing on Earth and convert it into a Rom-Ghenshar planet. But Rothwen is the master navigator of the alien great mothership and knows how to dismantle the carefully prepared automated destruction sequence. Having brought Shaillah to the departing spaceship by force and with their destiny in his hands, he then shows her that he will stop at nothing to ensure their future together. In a swift act of love and defiance, Rothwen does not destroy Earth; instead, he protects it. As Shaillah embraces Rothwen, she learns that their unbreakable bond and enduring love have triumphed over all odds, inspiring hope for a better future.
