Geeta Lal Sahai is an author, editor, and mental health advocate whose work blends storytelling with lived experience. With more than three decades of writing across journalism, publishing, and creative nonfiction, she has authored books on themes ranging from classical music to mental health. She has ghostwritten memoirs that give voice to untold stories.
She is the Co-founder and Director of Black Feathers Books, where she supports youngsters through editing, publishing, and the craft of storytelling. She is also the founder of the Swayam Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and caregiver support in India.
Her latest work, The Silent Symphony, is a moving exploration of families living with Alzheimer’s and the invisible labour of caregiving—deeply informed by her own journey as a caregiver. Through her books, workshops, podcasts, and advocacy, Geeta creates spaces where silence can be broken and healing stories can be shared. Her forthcoming book is a nonfiction - STORIES WE DO NOT TELL.
She lives in Delhi NCR, where she continues to write, mentor, and build communities around mental health and compassionate storytelling.
